The San Marzano tomato has its adopted area in the Agro Sarnese Nocerino and is known and appreciated all over the world for its characteristics, which are exalted when it’s made into the Pelato peeled tomato. It is presumably from the contrada Fiano, between Sarno and Nocera Inferiore, from where it spread to San Marzano. San Marzano is an absolute superior quality product, it has a unique distinguished sweet and sour taste, which is taken in from both the peculiar microclimate of its area of origin and the volcanic soil.

The berry’s shape is elongated with parallel longitudinal sags; the colour is vivid red. The DOP certificate certifies the typicality if its land of origin land, regulated by rigid production norms. The exclusive cultivation form is vertical and carried out with special stakes and threads.
